Rana Sana Ullah and Maulana Ahmad Ludhyanvi Meeting and allegations on Rana Sana Ullah

In connection with Bye elections in PP-82 Jhang, a few days back Punjab Law minister Rana Sana Ullah visited Jhang and met Maulana Ahmad Ludhyanvi--Leader of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (an organization banned by General Musharraf). Rana Sana Ullah met him to get his support for PML-N candidate but few parliamentarians and media persons starting a hue and cry over this meeting saying that Rana Sana Ullah has links with terrorist organization.
MNA from Jhang Sheikh Waqas Akram--a traditional rival of SSP in Jhang elections is leading this blame game and trying to gain some political scores over this issue. He is trying his best to give it sectarian touch and putting allegations on PML-N of supporting banned organizations for a few votes. Law minister has strongly rejected such allegations saying that he had a meeting with a Religious scholar and not a terrorist. He said that terrorists are found in jails and can't contest elections under law but Maulana Ludhyanvi contested last general election against Sheikh Waqas and got more than 45000 votes.
Talking to a TV channel, Molana Ludhyanvi said that the case of SSP is in process in LHC and it's illegal to declare a party as banned before court's decision. He said that his party has never supported terrorism. He also made it clear that if PML-Q can ask to Maulana Azam Tariq for his vote to elect Zafrullah Jamali as prime minister in 2002 then why PML-N can't ask them for vote?

Latest News from NA-55 Bye elections

Election campaign by various party's candidates is gaining full momentum and the whole NA-55 area is decorated with gigantic banners, hoardings and stickers of contesting candidates.
After attack on Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad of Awami Muslim League, now the story has got a new turn and Sheikh Rasheed supporters and PML-N supporters are in a direct clash both on media and on the ground. Sheikh Rasheed is suspecting on Punjab Government and Local PML-N leadership and accuses PML-N government of not providing enough security to him. On the other hand, PML-N denies any such thing and states that Sheikh Rasheed is trying to play politics over the dead bodies and trying to score some points to save his drowning boat in NA-55.
Shakeel Awan of PML-N is also campaigning very aggressively and targeting Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad by narrating his past deeds and his support for General Musharraf at the time of Lal Masjid Operation.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Candidate Ijaz Khan Jazi is also campaigning slowly but steadily and getting a good support from Pindi people especially educated youth of the constituency. He is also claiming to bag a good number of PPP votes as well. Ijaz Khan Jazi states that NA-55 election will be the start of a great peaceful revolution led by Imran Khan which will end the political drama of hypocrite politicians.
Dr Kamal of Jamat-e-Islami seems to be at number Four in this race and Jamat-e-Islami hasn't shown its power in the constituency so far. Corner meetings of Dr kamal are also showing less interest of people towards JI.
A young independent candidate Barrister Danish Iftikhar is also dreaming to be in the parliment and claims to bring an educational revolution in the country. He is not currently backed by any political party.

If we make a detailed analysis of current situation, we can see that Main contest is between Shakeel Awan, Ijaz Khan Jazi and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad. Sheikh Rasheed has got suapport of JUI-F and some other religious parties as well while Shakeel Awan expects a support from PPP voters in accordance with "Democracy Pact". However it's expected that a large number of PTI votes will be polled in favor of Ijaz Khan Jazi.

PF-83 Swat Bye-Election Party Position

After the Killing of ANP MPA Dr Shamshir Ali Khan, Election in PF-83 Swat are to be held at 28th January 2010 and election campaigning in this area is at full swing inspite of the military operation in the area against Talibans.
Five prominent candidates in the battle are Hussain Ahmad Kanjo of Jamat-e-Islami also supported by JUI-F, Rehmat Ali Khan of ANP supported by PPP Parlimentarian and PPP-Sherpao, Sher Muhammad Khan of PTI supported by JUI-F (Nazriati Group), PML-Q candidate Haji Jallat and an independent candidate Muhammad Khan.
ANP tried its best to get success uncontested but after failing to do so, now ANP is campaigning in all the areas of Swat very influentially and in a disciplined manner. ANP will also bag a large number of Sympathy vote which may help it to get success in the Election.
PML-N candidate Malik Riaz Khan announced boycott from the election but ironically he is supporting ANP candidate in the whole campaign. Malik Riaz Khan has allegedly links with the local Talibans which he refuses publicly. However it's believed that PML-N Knew that it has no public support in Swat area due to which party decided not to contest from there.
PTI candidate Sher Muhammad Khan is also considered a very influential person in the region due to his great social work in past. The just and clear stand of Imran Khan on the issues of national interest like War on terror, Drone Attacks and judiciary issue have brought the popularity of PTI to a very high level in the area and Sher Muhammad Khan is believed to give a tough time to other contesters.
JUI-F and JI joint Candidate Hussain Kanjo is also campaigning steadily and trying its best to exploit the religious minded people of Swat Valley. However JUI-F chief Fazl-ur-Rehman is not very popular in the region due to his Strange Dual politics.
PML-Q candidate is campaigning with a wide support of Engineer Amir Maqam and District Nazim Swat Jamal Nasir Khan. A former provincial minister Fateh Muhammad Khan is also supporting PML-Q candidate Haji Jallat.
It's hoped that there will be a tough and interesting contest between the Five candidates in the PF-83 constituency and its difficult to predict the victory of any candidate before 28th January.

NA-55 bye elections and candidates campaigning strategy

February 24th bye elections in NA-55 are very crucial for the political parties of Pakistan as these elections are going to express the real popularity level of various parties taking part in the elections. PML-N, Awami Muslim League, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamat-e-Islami candidate are the prominent figures taking part in this election. PML-Q and PPP have decided not to contest in this election and PML-Q has decided to support Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad in this election while it's believed that PPP will announce support for PML-N candidate. However "Ham Khayal" faction of PML-Q announced support for Shakeel Awan of PML-N in a press conference headed by Senior Vice president of PML-Q Kabir Ali Wasti. On the other hand it's believed that even if PPP leader announces support for PML-N candidate, it's not guaranteed that PPP voters will be favoring Shakeel Awan as there is a heated battle of words is going on between the two parties these days. Shakeel Awan is also blamed to be involved in the destruction of Monument of Benazir Bhutto in Liaqat bagh Rawalpindi.
PTI candidate Ijaza Khan Jazi is also considered as a strong candidate as he got more than 12,000 votes in the last elections even as an independent candidate. Ijaz Khan Jazi is considered as an influencial and popular person in the city and the Just and upright politics of Imran Khan has made the atmosphere more friendly for Ijaz Jazi. A clear and strong stance of PTI chairman Imran Khan on various issues of national interest have braught a large public support for PTI candidate. Various prominent political figures from the city are joining PTI and it's believed that PTI will emerge as a strong competitor in the election. Imran Khan has around six large gathering speeches scheduled in february and these Jalsas of Imran Khan can really bring a big twist in the politics of NA-55.
A very large number of people from Rawalpindi participated in a "Go America Go rally" organized by Jamat-e-Islami in the last month which raised eyebrows of the political opponents of Jamat-e-Islami and political analysts state that Jamat-e-Islami also have a strong ideological vote bank in the city which has risen sharply in the past one year. However Dr Kamal is not believed to be in a position to give any tough time to the competitors.
An independent candidate and son of the Editor of Daily Asas Rawalpindi, Barrister Danish Iftikhar is also campaigning in a disciplined approach but yet he is not successful in bringing public in his favor. Haji Gulzar Awan of Pakistan Aman Party is also in the race but is expected to be again in the last number as is the case for him in the past.

NA-21 Elections in News

  • JUI-F candidate for NA-21 Laiq Muhammad Khan has aggressively criticized Captain Safdar saying that he is yet a little student of politics and doesn't know the ups and downs of politics. He said that he will win the January 28th Election and doesn't believe on hollow slogans.

  • Javed Hasmi, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi, Hanif Abbasi and Zafar Iqbal Jagra will address a political gathering of Haji Tahir Ali of PML-N in Baffa Chowk. This Jalsa will occur at 1PM on 23rd January.

Bye Election in NA-21 Party Position

After the demise of Faiz Muhammad Khan--MNA from Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) now once again Election campaigning is at its full swing in NA-21 Mansehra. The main contesters are Nawabzada Salahuddin from PPP, Haji Tahir Ali of PML-N, Haji Laiq Ali of JUI (F), Niaz Khan Sarkheli of PTI and Zargul Khan of PML-Q.
PPP's campaign is being driven in a very fast pace through mega projects announcements under the supervision of Federal government and the people of Mansehra are being lured by sweet but hollow slogans of PPP. PPP which never looked at the miseries of the people of this area during it's government in the last one year has suddenly changed its mood and now promising to change the fate of the people of this constituency. PPP is announcing to provide gas, spread a network of roads and open hundreds of new schools in the area.
PML-N has given ticket to brother of Captain (R) Safdar--Haji Tahir who is campaigning with a wide support of PML-N MNAs like His brother Captain Safdar, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan and Murteza Javed Abbasi. It's believed that PML-N candidate will also take benefit of some sympathy votes. But critics state that Haji Tahir is not a notable and well known personality of the region and he has no significant contribution in the politics of the region in the past.
Haji Laiq Ali of JUI-F is gaining popularity very rapidly because of a disciplined campaigning of Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Sawati who hails a very good reputation in the area. It's believed that Haji Laiq Ali will be giving a tough time to its opponents. Ironically, instead of all the "doubtful" politics of JUI chief Molana Fazl ur Rehman, Haji Laiq Ali is gaining wide public support probably because of the religious mindedness of the people of this constituency.
PTI is also a big force in this race and Niaz Khan Sarkheli of PTI is also campaigning slowly but steadily. PTI chairman Imran Khan also visited the constituency and addressed a large gathering there and this speech of such an iconic personality has shifted the minds of the people to a greater extent. Niaz Khan Sarkheli is also taking full benefit of just and clear stand of PTI over Judiciary issue and other issues of national itnerest like Drone Attacks, Military operations inside the country, american involvement in internal affairs, rising inflation, shortage of gas, electricity and other commodities.
Zargul Khan of PML-Q is trying to grab public support and is campaigning heavily under the leadership of Sardar Yousuf, Shahzada Gustasab Khan and Shahjahan Yousuf. He is trying his best to wash the stains that are associated with his party because of supporting military dictator General Musharaf and supporting Musharaf in Lal Masjid and Waziristan operation.
Jamat-e-Islami candidate and an independent candidate Molana Rabnawaz of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan are also in the field but lack the capability to reach to winning point.

The Real Face of Sheikh Rasheed--Is he eligble to be a MNA?

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, former Information minister and now the leader of self centered party--Awami Muslim League is contesting Bye election from NA-55 Rawalpindi.
Sheikh Rasheed is widely known because of his vulgar and bizarre language. Several of his speeches and statements put question on his eligibility of becoming a Member of Parliment of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Just watch this video and decide yourself whether such a "cheap" person deserves any more to sit in the honorary benches of National Assembly? Is this the caliber of our politicians? Ball is in your court to decide:

Bye Election in NA-55 Rawalpindi--a comparisons of candidates

After the resignation of PML-N MNA Haji Pervez who was involved in a Fraud of trying to clear his F.A. examination with the help of his nephew, now Election in this constituency are to be held on 24th February. After announcement of schedule by election commission, campaigning by the candidates of various parties have started and different parties are trying to grab the seat through coalitions, merges and some catchy slogans.
The main contesters for this Election are Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad of Awami Muslim League, Shakeel Awan of PML-N, Ijaz Khan Jazi of PTI and Dr Kamal of JI. PPP hasn't decided to run in this battle yet!
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has started his campaign very vigorously and he is using his full energies to let the people of the area forget his past and he is constantly reciting about the development work that was made by him. He is also trying to convince the people that he had no role in the wide killings in Lal Masjid and is trying to present himself as a Mujahid. His regular visits to various notable Ulema of the constituency is a part of his strategy to get support of Religious groups in the city.
On the other hand, Shakeel Awan of PML-N who was a former General councilor, is claiming to be a representative of middle class of society and boasts to have a clear win against opponents. He is strongly backed by a large number of PML-N MPAs from the area, Hanif Abbasi and Chadhry Nisar Ali Khan--Opposition Leader in the national assembly. He is trying hard to regain the party's popularity which was badly damaged by the deeds of Haji Pervez. The vote bank of PML-N has also greatly fallen because of the party's poor opposition role in the national assembly and it's friendly opposition role. Party also failed to synchronize it's voice with the voice of the poor people on the issues of growing inflation, shortage of Sugar, Gas and electricity and growing intensity of terrorism.
Ijaz Khan Jazi is the Candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and he has got a great support from the people of the constituency especially from the youth. The just and clear stand of Imran Khan on the issues of war on terror, Drone Attacks, NRO, Baluchistan Issue and the Judiciary issue has made the party, the most popular party of Pakistan. It seems that if Ijaz Khan Jazi continues campaigning with current momentum and if Imran khan also visits Rawalpindi for four or five times in his campaign, he can win the seat and can become the first symbol of Change.
Dr Kamal of JI is also a notable personality of the region but JI seems not to be in a winning position inspite of the party's clear and strong stand against America's involvement in the country's internal affairs.
It's hoped that February 24th Election will bring an educated, civilized and talented personality forward and hopefully hypocrite politicians will get a revenge from the people of Rawalpindi.

Pakistan's Politics in 2009

2009 is about to end with alot of ups and downs, ins and outs in the Politics of Pakistan. This post throws some light on the major happenings of the year in the political scene:

* The Politics of PPP
Pakistan Peoples Party inspite of having power in Center as well as in Sindh, Baluchistan and N.W.F.P. remained under a big turmoil throughout the year. First, it had to face a big public and political pressure on the issue of restoration of judiciary and then it came under the fire of NRO. The strong alliance with ANP, MQM and JUI-F saved the boat of PPP from drowning but yet it's position remained shaky throughout the year.
The rising inflation, the shortage of Gas, Electricity, sugar and flour crisis and many other such issues brought the popularity graph of PPP to a very minimum level.
* The Politics of PML-N
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz gained a huge popularity by having a clear and strong stance on the judiciary issue but the party leadership failed to maintain it's level of popularity because of it's soft tone of opposition in the national assembly! The party enjoyed the tastes of both opposition and alliance with the ruling party by keeping a silence over many issues of national interests. The party also failed to bring a clear and unanimous decision about the operation in Swat. Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan kept on opposing such millitary operations but on the other hand, the party as a whole supported this operation.
PML-N also failed to raise its voice against growing inflation, lawlessness and American Drone attacks within the territory of Pakistan.
* The Politics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf
Imran Khan is one of the few leaders who remained straight and bold against american drone attacks and he vocally opposed any sort of millitary operations by the Pakistan army inside the country's border. He raised his voice for dialog and for peaceful settlement of all disputes with Taliban in Swat and Tribal areas.
Imran Khan also raised his voice at every forum against the corruption of the rulers and for the rights of the people of Pakistan. He played significant role in the movement of restoration of judiciary.
Jamat-e-Islami also played a very active role in the politics of Pakistan (outside parliment) and the new Ameer of JI--Munawar Hassan raised the momentum of the party activities after retirement of Qazi Hussain Ahmad. The party had a very clear stance against military operations and Drone attacks. The party is holding country wide protests against American involvement in the country's affairs and people are actively participating in the "Go America Go Rallies " of JI.

Pakistani Political parties—in the eyes of the Public

How to tackle Talibanization in Pakistan?

After millitary operation in Swat, the frequency of bombing in the cities of Pakistan has also increased which is supposed to be the reaction of this operation! Is it really a reaction? Are the Talibans so powerful and tactfull?
In the fight of two parties, third party which is usually a common enemy, always takes the benefit and tries to fulfill it's hidden motives. Without even the initial investigations, our government feels no hesitation to put the blame on Talibans and thus relaxing those foreign agencies and foreign elements who try to get advantge of the turmoil.
No, doubt, such bombings can't be justified and the culprits can't be appreciated but the question of concern is that how much investigations have been done in this regard and how much of them point clearly to the Talibans? If an anonymous caller claims to be a Taliban and takes the responsiblity of an attack, is it sufficient proof? Definitely not.
The need of the day is to revise our policies, improve the infra-structure of our judicial and investigation system and try to expose the reality.
